Hi! My name is Erika Alba. Thank you for visiting my website!
I chose to live in St. Johns County over a decade ago, and I can’t imagine a better place to live: it is truly a special place and a wonderful community to raise a family.
Next to my faith, my greatest love is for my family. My husband, Jerome, and I moved to Florida in 2003 when the company we both worked for, Fidelity National Financial, relocated its corporate headquarters to downtown Jacksonville from California. We were both born and raised in California so we weren’t sure what to expect. However, it was soon clear to both of us that God had granted us a special blessing by leading us to Florida. My parents followed us to Florida in 2005, and we are all now proud Floridians. Jerome and I have a daughter, Kaitlyn, who is a graduate of Ponte Vedra High School and now lives with her husband in Texas. Our son, Hunter, is a very rambunctious, baseball-loving ten-year old son, who attends Ocean Palms Elementary.
I have been blessed with a successful law career and have been licensed in California since 1994 and Florida since 2007. I began my legal career as a criminal prosecutor where I worked my way up to the serious felony division and ultimately was assigned to prosecute child physical and sexual abuse cases as well as cases under California’s Three Strikes Law. I subsequently went to work for FNF as a Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel where I handled regulatory and government affairs matters. I now work at Foley & Lardner, LLP, a national corporate law firm where I serve as a business lawyer and practice both political/campaign finance and non-profit law. I also serve as general counsel to several non-profit organizations including the Associated Industries of Florida and the Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
I have been a Republican since I first registered to vote when I was 18, and have been a conservative even longer than that! I believe our government leaders must be good stewards of taxpayers’ money and that taxes should be no higher than is absolutely necessary to maintain the great quality of life that we have in St. Johns County.
I am running for County Commission because St. Johns County is at a crossroads. It is imperative that as our County grows (which is inevitable because of our amazing schools and quality of life!), the growth is smart and reasonable. My priorities as a Commissioner will be to ensure that we adequately fund our infrastructure to ensure that our schools remain #1 in the state, that the maintenance of our parks and recreational facilities be made a priority, and that we diversify and expand our economy. Our residents shouldn’t be forced to choose between commuting to Jacksonville or Daytona Beach.
My parents and grandparents taught me the importance of public service and I take my responsibility to volunteer to heart. From 2006-2016 I was on the governing Board of the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Florida where as a Board member I served as Resource Chair, Vice Chair and Board Chair. During my tenure, we were able to secure funding for, and build, the Players Championship Boys & Girls Club in St. Augustine, which serves over 100 disadvantaged youths everyday. Additionally, I served on the board of Florida Taxwatch, a non-profit tax watchdog organization that advocates for limited government and efficient tax policy. My family has been active members of St. Francis in the Field Episcopal Church in Nocatee since 2005. At St. Francis, I was on the Vestry for three years and served as Junior and Senior Warden. Additionally, for several years I taught Christian Formation and Children’s Chapel, and for the past 8 eight years, have been the director of the Christmas Eve Children’s Pageant. Finally, I currently serve on the board of the Ponte Vedra Athletic Association, which organizes and oversees the sports programs for the youth in the Ponte Vedra Beach-Nocatee area.
Thanks again for visiting my website. Working together we can keep St. Johns County the wonderful place to live that it is. Please know that you can always count on me. I respectfully ask for your support.
